How to write a good CV for Bilingual Employment

Posted by osrec On December - 11 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

If bilingual employment is what you seek then besides the skills you need to have a CV that impresses the reader / prospective employer. When applying for a bilingual job you must keep in mind that while there are plenty of jobs available in the market there are plenty more applying for the job. Writing a CV for a job post that requires candidates that are bilingual is not very different from your regular job application CV. The only thing difference here is the fact that you need to give importance to the different languages that you know and the degree to which you can communicate in them. For example can you only speak the language or can you read, write and speak it etc.

The CV presentation

Whether you are contemplating on applying for multilingual employment or not there are certain golden rules that one needs to follow in order to have an effective CV. You must remember that presentation is the most important aspect of a CV. Keep it precise and crisp. Use paper that white and do not ‘decorate’ the page with any kind of graphics. Perfect spelling and grammar is extremely important as this says a lot about your personality.

Personal details

A CV always has 2 parts a personal section and an employment section and a CV for bilingual employment is no different. Use the personal section to fill basic information about yourself including your education. Your achievements and personal interests will also be a part of this section although it might feature at the end of you CV. Ensure that details like your name, address and contact information are correct so that you can be reached if need be.

Professional details

The professional / employment section of your CV should contain you employment history. You will need to start with where you are currently employed, your designation etc and draw up the list backwards. Therefore your first employer will feature last on the list. A CV always holds more weight if it has a set of references. Include these if you can. The references that you list should preferable be people that you have worked with in the past. Since we are talking about a CV for a bilingual position you might want to emphasis on the various bilingual jobs you’ve had in the past. Bilingual employment services also help with CV writing so you could get a few tips from them as well.

  1. UK Immigration

UK Immigration has recently changed to a points system

….work permits for the  UK are not so easy to attain these days as they were 18 months ago.

There are ways that it is possible as we will discuss.

Highly skilled professionals can apply for their own work permits for the UK.

Tier 1 applications are now in place of the old highly skilled migrant program or HSMP as it was known.

For the options available for work permits for employees, on sponsored visas through the traditional 5 year (or 60 months) work permit has now been changed over to what is now known as Tier, 2 and the criteria for qualifying through the points system has been made a little more difficult.

The applicants current and past experience, salary, qualifications, job description and supervisory experienced is analysed more strictly and the salary to receive tin the UK has to be at a higher level than was previsouly allowed.

NVQ level III or above, HND level occupations are the two special visa types for the employees with lower qualifications. An employer can only hire them, showing the absence of responses from the EEA residents for the positions advertised in public media for four weeks

The UK has been in the top choices among most of the skilled professionals looking to work abroad.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of applications are submitted for work permits in the UK.

Only thirty five percent of the submitted applications get approved. That’s why, while applying for a UK work permit, you have to be very specific and careful and take proper advice and work with experienced OISC approved consultants.

The Tier one (HSMP) is a visa option only available for the highly skilled professionals. Other than those, the workers have to request for work permit in UK through their employers. An  HSMP ..highly skilled migrant program or Tier 1 visa holder can work anywhere in UK for two years and they can request an extension showing the proper documents and contracts of the job. The tier 2 work permit also has a shortage occupation list in which an employer can save some time by not need ing to prove they have advertised throughout the European Union for 4 weeks and could not find any suitable resident or EEA (European Economic Area) Resident workers.

The shortage occupation list typically has executive level, health professionals, engineers, teachers, veterinary surgeons are included in that list which have high demands in UK.

Tier 3 was for seasonal workers from the EU and is now suspended, this has taken over from the old SAWS (agricultural) work permits and the old SBS work permit … A sector based scheme work permit for the meat and fish industry.

Tier 4 and Tier 5 work permits will be discussed in more detail later.

If you are eligible, or an employer looking for work permit processing to hire someone from outside the EEA, our experienced team members are here to help you all through the processes.

We can assure a painless and professional experience while dealing with our team for foreign worker employment and immigration services in the UK.

Career Change Tips and Advice

Career Change Tips and Advice

Building a career over years is becoming a rarity in the age of fast forwarded careers. Hardly a decade ago, any bright-eyed, freshly minted graduate had his options cut out for them. You either get into a management school, get into engineering school or med school and pray that you came out in one piece.  Choosing was not much of a problem, because your choices were limited, and in more ways than one, you got chosen by your profession. By luck you would find yourself able to tolerate what you do as a job and live on. Today, we have avenues for jobs springing up in places we never imagined. The choices are endless post the IT revolution. People change jobs by the weekend. The tendency to change one’s career is on the rise. Sensitivities have changed. Everybody has a reason to change jobs, at least an excuse to convince themselves that they made the right choice.

Changing careers is a common sight today. Most of the people are interested to shift their careers and they have different reasons for it. A. Harrison Barnes, the CEO of job portal Employment Crossing says that there are people who switch careers as soon as they have stepped into their “chosen” field in the face of fallen expectations. There is also the breed that discovers A. Hidden talent they can put to use in a much better way in a different career in the middle of their present careers. Though the prospect of changing the decision about their career is at times painful, the average person today has the courage to change their careers for they find themselves suitable for a different job than the one they are presently in. Job satisfaction is a crucial factor today, so much to the extent that we find employers changing the office environment to make their employees feel “happy” coming to work. It is no longer surprising to hear of a person who landed up in a field that had absolutely nothing to do with the choices he made during his/her education or later on, in the beginning of their “planned” career. Today, the possibilities for a career change at any stage in your present career are endless.

A career change has its bounties and benefits, but there is always the risk factor of losing your way if you do not keep your head straight. Though a career change does involve risk, according to A. Harrison Barnes, you will not know unless you take the risk. A career change also allows you to experience different jobs and provide you with enough knowledge about the day-to-day processes involved in a particular profession. It provides them avenues to learn more and more capabilities and areas where they can excel.

Every individual has his or her own reason to change careers says A. Harrison Barnes. Some may have problems dealing with their colleagues or the seniors with whom they spend the whole day at office. In the present scenario, where the average person has a fairly high degree of sensitivity, uncomfortable peer interaction could easily be a factor that governs a career shift. It is seen that in most cases of resignation from a particular organization, the individual leaves his immediate supervisor and not the organization.  Another reason for the shift could be the frequent change in tasks or even in rules that are not allowing you to perform.

Another culprit of a career shift is the lack of concentration or dwindling interest in routine chores at work. It is a possibility that one can lose focus of the big picture and thus fail to perform up to the desired mark. This change in attitude can put the individual in situations where he is pointed out to be incapable of handling his job efficiently and eventually a burden to his working environment. This could easily provoke a job shift. Though this could result in an immediate shift to a different organization in the same field, it is highly likely that such an individual can face a similar pattern of situations, wherever he or she goes, which may eventually result in verifying the decision to embark on this career and the probability of a different career option.

Changing careers is never an easy job. You need to look at all the facts and take them into perspective before you take the plunge. The few aspects that you need to consider are shared with you below by A. Harrison Barnes.

USA Work Visas – H-2B Guest Worker Program

Posted by osrec On December - 7 - 2009 12 COMMENTS

An H-2B Guest worker visa program guide for employers and corporations.

America has always been the dream destination for many people, especially foskilled professionals as the wages and facilities that one employee can earn while working inside USA is often more than they can earn at home, or it has more value in USA than it has at home due to the reasonable costs of living for basic things like clothes, food and travel.

We recently did a poll of all our applicants and USA was the top choice destination by far, which would support the fact that the US consulates are very keen to make sure that non immigrant workers intend to return home after their contract has finished.

USA work visas and guest work programs have different options according to the demands and the type of available jobs in USA.  The H-2b visa program for seasonal jobs is the main visa for lower skilled workers and often is the preferred USA work visas or guest worker program for employers. It allows  employers to hire foreign workers to get engaged in any kind of non-agricultural job for a short term, non immigrant stay in the USA.

The H2B Guest worker program offers  an extension option for up to three seasons, typically each visa is issued for 190 months or less at a time depending on the seasonal need.

This is a good visa for  people looking for some travel and fun jobs while residing in the US. Employers need temporary foreign employees for short time seasonal employment. The  H2b visa sponsorship is popular for it’s easy application and relatively hassle free approval process for the Labor certificate and the petition as long as the application has been handled correctly and with the right information, documents and approach submitted to both the department of labor and the USCIS at the time of applying for the I-797 petition.

Employers need proper advice before submitting documentation and all the necessary extra information before they apply for a labor certification approval to allow them to participate in the  H2b USA work visa program.

Employers will have to prove that their is unavailability of enough workers in their locality and that their need of temporary workers is genuine to allow them to apply for these visas for their own employees.

They should start to prepare to apply for the applications six months before the workers are needed, this gives enough time to plan ahead for an April 1st or October 1st start date. The main problem to the application if it is a genuine need is that there is a cap imposed  for 33000 successful applications in every fiscal years( six months), while there are approximately 50000 applications approved by the USCIS, these extra approvals are usually to cover those applicants that are rejected at the US consulate stage, which is approximately one third of all applicants.

Thta is a scary statistic to employers who have spent months and a great deal of money preparing for the workers, the question we get asked most when employers are made aware of these facts is always the same …”Is there a risk free way  procedure to follow while applying for the H2B Visas and petitions?”

The answer is that yes there are some simple procedures that should be followed and there are ways to ensure you stand the very best chance of success and minimize your chance of failure, this is done through proper candidate selection, proper documentation, experience of knowing what is needed at what time and having local knowledge in the countries that you are recruiting from.

Osrec offers a great option that you can expect proper guidance about the application process. Here, you can find experts doing immigration and recruitment for years. We are ready to help you completely so that you never have to bother with the filing and submission process after supplying us with the  proper documentation.

The main risk comes at the consulate stage but we have a unique preparation, screening and skills testing system in place to ensure the best chance possible.

Our goal to to help clients succeed in getting their workers on time and that they are quality workers that can hit the ground running.

A brief and easy guide to US Immigration guest worker and work related programs

America offers various opportunities for employers and migrant workers, every year US Immigration work programs approves a good number of visa applications for trained professionals. People who are looking for a job have the chance to apply for a USA visa under an employer or sponsor who has  pre approved  legal compliance’s to hire a suitable foreign worker as an employee under his company. The US Immigration work programs has arranged number of visa options for employers to hire employees according to their needs.

For employers, there are several convenient options to manage their workforce with foreign professionals. US Immigration offers H-1B Visa for professionals, H-2B Visa program for seasonal workers, many of whom may be highly skilled such as welders, fitters, electricians, journeymen linemen as well as the usual popular demands within the program such as ski resort workers, constriction workers, hospitality staff such as cooks, drivers, food servers, food production assistants and many more., the L-1 Visa is also quite popular for intra company transfers. Recently with the new rules being introduced for the H-2B visa which prevents some unscrupulous practices by both some agents and employers there has been a major shift towards the Q1 Visa and the J1 Visa as an alternative to the H”B visa program.

These are the most convenient work, employer and sponsor related visas for US Immigration for migrant or foreign workers, which can easily be attained by the employers through working with experienced and knowledgeable immigration and recruitment services such as the Overseas Recruitment Association. There are different visa options for different professional experts. H-1B visa and H-2B visas are arranged for the employees. US Immigration also has ready made provisions of business visas too, which includes B-1 visa.

Furthermore, the students, and tourists have their own options to attain US visa according to their needs.

Employers looking to employ foreign people in their company should first gain approval to do so through the Department of Labor. After approval and a temporary labor certificate are approved they also need to file the petition applications of their employees to the USCIS. After petitions are approved the worker needs to arrange the papers before submission to the US Consulate for final Visa to gain entry clearance to travel to USA.

Osrec helps applicants prepare properly for the embassy. This is often an overlooked part of the procedure which often goes wrong leaving employers frustrated with approved petitions but with applicants being denied entry clearance visas and therefore losing the time, effort and money spent in getting the temporary labor certificate and the USCIS approved petition.

Benefits of Living in Australia

Posted by osrec On December - 6 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

It strikes curiosity why people despite having the comforts of their homes, leave and take another route. Many people working overseas have responded that a better opportunity to expand career paths outside the country of origin is like having a taste of lightness. For instance working in Australia; the country has excellent career opportunities and a lifestyle to be looked forward to. These are just few of the thousand good reasons why a remarkable number works overseas in Australia.

Living abroad is not difficult, and many people take advantage of the opportunity to work and live overseas at some point in their lives. Education, international understanding and confidence are skills that can be gained from the experience. One of the beautiful country that I like to go is Australia. It is a developed country and a multicultural society. It has an excellent result when it comes to international comparisons of national performance such as quality of life, health care, life expectancy, economic freedom, public education, and political rights. Working in Australia gets the benefit of a flex working time. They give virtue to those who work extra effort to bring changes. Aside from the filthy competitive salaries they enjoy the luxury of benefits.

We have to face the fact that it can take a lot of planning to spend time working abroad, and the shock of landing in another culture and fending for yourself can be off-putting. But if you enjoy a challenge, love to travel, can leave the country for an extended period of time and aren’t intimidated by the idea of making a living in a strange place, possibly with a different language, working abroad may be for you. So get as much out of your time overseas as you possibly can with sensible planning and taking proper care to know exactly what will be available to you.

LET’S THINK ABOUT IT

Posted by osrec On December - 5 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

LET’S THINK ABOUT IT

Economists used to think wealth came from a combination of man-made resources (roads, factories, telephone systems), human resources (hard work and education), and technological resources (technical know-how, or simply high-tech machinery). Obviously, poor countries grew into rich countries by investing money in physical resources and by improving human and technological resources with education and technology transfer programs.

Education, factories, infrastructure, and technical know-how are indeed abundant in rich countries and lacking in poor ones. The first clue that something is a miss with the traditional story is its implication that poor countries should have been catching up with rich ones for the last century or so—and that the further behind they are, the faster the catch-up should be. In a country that has very little in the way of infrastructure or education, new investments have the biggest rewards.

This expectation seems to be confirmed by the experience of China, Taiwan, and South Korea—not to mention Botswana, Chile, India, Mauritius, and Singapore. Fifty years ago they were caught up in poverty, lacking man-made, human, technical, and sometimes natural resources. Now these dynamic countries, not Japan, the United States, or Switzerland, have become the fastest-growing economies on the planet.

Since technology is widely available and increasingly cheap, this is what economists should expect of every developing country. In a world of diminishing returns, the poorest countries gain the most from new technology, infrastructure, and education. South Korea, for example, acquired technology by encouraging foreign companies to invest or by paying licensing fees. In addition to the fees, the investing companies sent profits back home. But the gains to Korean workers and investors, in the form of economic growth, were 50 times greater than the fees and profits that left the country.

As for education and infrastructure, since the returns seem to be so high, there should be no shortage of investors willing to fund infrastructure projects or lend money to students (or to governments that provide education). Banks, domestic and foreign, should be lining up to lend people the money to get through school or to build a new road or a new power plant.

In turn, poor people, or poor countries, should be very happy to take out such loans, confident that investment returns are so high that the repayments will not be difficult. Even if, for some reason, that didn’t happen, the World Bank, established after World War II with the express aim of providing loans to countries for reconstruction and development, lends billions of dollars a year to developing countries. Investment money is clearly not the issue; either the investments are not being made, or they are not delivering the returns the traditional model predicts.

LET’S THINK ABOUT IT AND FIND THE SOLUTION

Immigration detention reforms on the cards

Posted by osrec On December - 4 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

The Obama administration has launched a new plan to salvage the immigration detention system ridden with scandals, especially lockups at federal, state, and local levels during the presidency of George W. Bush.

The plan has its origins in the proposals mooted by Janet Napolitano, the homeland security secretary and John Morton, the director of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). The suggestions mainly focus on providing better detention conditions and better medical care for the detainees as well as holding a trail of preventable injuries and deaths. The stated purpose of their proposals is to make the immigration detention system less expensive and more accountable and efficient.

The new immigration reform plan reflects a change in the attitude of the government that not all detainees are violent criminals. They could be asylum seekers, young mothers and their children, even respected members of communities whose brush with law was due to a lapsed visa.

If they do not have a genuine reason for staying, they should be deported immediately and not confined in detention centers. Those who need to be detained will be detained “in settings commensurate with the risk of flight and danger they present.”

The ICE also plans to unveil a new medical classification system to improve medical care and bring down unnecessary medical transfers. However, the details of the scheme are yet to be clarified by ICE.

The most important of all immigration reform measures is that, central control over subcontracted system has been reaffirmed. This stresses that central control is a smarter and cheaper option. The entire plan will be well within the budget as there is less dependence on contractors who perform important federal duties.

If these policies turn out to be a success and if they continue to be implemented, it will make up for years of neglect suffered under previous administrations.
