Desired Length of Internship:  October through April/May

Possible Duties:

• Waiter/Waitress – 4 positions – $11.50/per hour.
• Line Cooks – 2 positions – $12.50 per hour.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience as a waiter or server.  Good with customers and/or members.  The ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.

Housing Cost:

• Housing will cost $35 per week.  Includes all utilities.

Estimated Salary or Other Benefits: N/A

• Working Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week; some overtime available.
• Special Notes: The Club will pay for your airline ticket to the United States.  The Club will pay for full health insurance benefits for each h2b worker.  The Club will provide transportation to and from closest airport. Club will also provide transportation, if necessary, to and from housing for working shifts. The closest airport to the Hotel is Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida.

Update May 12th

We have not been in a position to update for over a week due to no communication and information being given to the contractor. The latest news we have this morning is that we probably won’t hear anything for another few days. That there will be much less people needed than was originally forecast and that BP have around 3000 people working on it and these numbers are made up with a large proportion of volunteers…hence the need for less workers when we do get the go ahead. Latest Information on the Oil Spill Clean Up Jobs

The Latest information that we have from the contractor is to stop taking applications for the time being. They have had hundreds of applications directly, as well as hundreds through Osrec, and things are on hold as there is uncertainty where the Oil Spill will end up.

Without definite information and instructions from the Prime contractors, the sub contractors are in the same situation with not being able to update applicants.

I have been told to keep watching the news to get the latest developments of the spill and we should have more information on Thursday or Friday at some point.

This is a really frustrating situation as we cannot inform everyone with any certainty of what is going on. We also cannot contact everyone individually by email and respond to every individual request for information due to the sheer volume of applications.
