Once you have made the decision to recruit foreign labor, choosing the most suitable country to recruit from can be a daunting task. If your company is like may others and is receiving emails every day from agents abroad, you will have to read and listen to why their country is the best and it can be very confusing and difficult to know which is right for you. Some points you really need to consider are as follows: how important are language skills, and can you work with a proportion of workers speaking English and interpreting for their co-workers. This may seem a bit basic but you have to take into consideration that some countries are great for skills and work ethic but not great on speaking English. This can work the other way too where some nationalities may speak good English but have lesser skills due to the equipment they use in their own country being old and outdated, or the unavailability of good training in their country how are the consulates in the country? Do they issue visas at a reasonable percentage, or do they have a reputation for being very difficult to get through. What is the consulate waiting times for visa appointments? Is the consulate easy to deal with when you have questions to ask, or are they being difficult, un-cooperative and dismissive of your requests for information? do you know other employers who have employed workers from abroad and had a great experience with those workers? Ask them questions about their experiences and the problems they initially faced during the process are the countries you are interested in known for the skills that you need? can your attorney tell you about the consulates where they have found success and co-operation when dealing with them in the past? do the workers from these countries have a reputation for running away when they arrive in your country to work for someone else with the visa you spent time, money and effort obtaining for them? do the agents in the country have a reputation for overcharging applicants?
